SOLANGE - WHEN I GET HOME (1LP)

When I Get Home  is a departure from Solange's earlier concept albums.  This time, the focus is on capturing the essence of her Southern roots.  The album brims with references to Houston and New Orleans,  from the chopped and screwed samples to the pulsating rhythms reminiscent of brass bands.  

While the beats are undeniable, When I Get Home  is more than just a dance record.  Solange incorporates spoken word interludes featuring the voices of prominent black artists like Phylicia Rashad and Debbie Allen.  These interludes add a layer of depth and cultural significance to the album, creating a space for reflection amidst the infectious grooves.
