Introducing South Asia on Wax—a night dedicated to the vibrant, foundational dance and electronic sounds of the subcontinent where vintage Bollywood disco, 80s synth-pop, and rare grooves from South Asia meet modern dance floors.
For this edition, we’re thrilled to host Ragz, DJ, record collector, and co-founder of Naya Beat Records, a Los Angeles-based label uncovering lost South Asian musical gems. Through their reissues and remixes, Naya Beat has brought forgotten sounds back into circulation, earning praise from Peggy Gou, Palms Trax, Gilles Peterson, and The Vinyl Factory. As a selector, Ragz has played at some of the world’s most discerning dance floors—from Brooklyn’s Good Room to LA’s Heat-Wave parties, with recent appearances on Beats in Space, NTS, and KCRW.
