DAVE BRUBECK - TAKE FIVE

David Warren Brubeck was an American jazz musician and arranger, and one of the premier examples of cool jazz. A portion of his pieces have become jazz standards, including "In Your Own Sweet Way" and "The Duke". Brubeck's style went from refined to manic, reflecting both - his mother's traditional training and his own improvisational abilities. His music utilized strange time signatures as well as superimposing differentiating rhythms, meters, and tones.

Known famously for the song by the same title, this remastered compilation album features Dave Brubeck with his quartet of jazz cats performing their favourite standards, including features from Carmen McRae. The quarter line-up features saxophonist Paul Desmond, bassist Eugene Wright and drummer Joe Morello.
