On this week’s #OTJFGuestPlaylist, malfnktion takes us along on his journey from Bangalore to Toronto, a compilation of some of his favourite old and new Hip-hop, R&B and their offshoots.

With a feeling of disconnect or ‘malfunction’ with the world, he spends his days recording sounds as he travels, tinkering with old music inherited from his dad and figuring out his new Espresso Machine.

He adds, “Since the pandemic, I’ve spent unhealthy amounts of time online absorbing music, film, live stream, games etc. and it’s had an interesting effect on my music.”

With a bevy of well-received bangers to his name, the producer/ beat-maker gives us an insight into his unique, risk-taking approach to music-making, with this playlist that can coolly be described as ‘good vibes’, ‘sexy’, ‘808’ and ‘gangsta’.
