Mahal is the seventh studio collection by American multi-instrumentalist/producer/musician Toro y Moi, released on April 29, 2022, through Dead Oceans, as his most first release under this new label. Chaz Bear's most recent is a free and energetic psych-funk melange — an insight into what a one-person band figuring out how to stick. It's an album loaded up with funk-star chops while being goofier and more transparent than his past full-lengths, with an uncharacteristic amount of self-awareness.
